What the gameplay asks you to do
The official description gives three connected tasks: explore branching paths, survive hostile creatures and improve your equipment. Returning to an earlier corridor is part of progression, because tools can open routes that were previously inaccessible.
Treat a blocked route as a future exploration lead rather than assuming every door can be opened immediately. This is a planning suggestion based on the official progression description, not a location-specific solution.
What combat footage shows
Xbox Wire describes twin-stick aiming, dodging and limited-use healing in its June preview. The author also discusses a pistol, shotgun, flares and grenades. These are observations from a directed hands-on sample; they do not establish the exact opening inventory, final balancing or every controller binding.
Use the embedded Part 1 video to judge the camera distance and pace. It is recorded on PS5 Pro; exact performance on another console or PC configuration is not established by that recording.
